Chautauqua County - The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Jamestown Clean Coal Project. Public comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted by the contact person until Thursday, December 21, 2006. The action involves the BPU proposing to construct a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler that would supply steam to a new steam turbine generator with a net electrical output of approximately 43 megawatts, a fuel and ash handling system, a rail car unloading area, supporting infrastructure, and connections to Jamestown's district heating system. The CFB would be capable of firing a mixture of fuels, including coal and alternative fuels. The CFB boiler would be located adjacent to the site of the existing Samuel A.
