Public Notice

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 24 (Freshwater Wetlands Act) of the New York State Environmental Conservation Law and the Freshwater Wetlands Mapping and Classification Regulations (6 NYCRR Part 664) that NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) proposes to amend Erie County Freshwater Wetland Maps 9, 10, 13, and 14 of 31 originally filed in1986. The wetland amendment would consist of adding Wetland LA-17 as a Class 1 wetland to the maps. Maps showing the proposed revisions are available at the clerks’ offices in the Town of Lancaster and Erie County, as well as at the NYSDEC Region 9 Office, Buffalo, NY. The wetland boundaries may be transferred onto the most recent version of NYSDOT 7 ˝' quadrangle map to show their proximity to mapped features. Written comments on the accuracy of the proposed changes to the maps may be mailed to the person listed below. All comments received through November 10, 2006 will be considered. Pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 664, once the announcement of a proposed amendment has been made, no activity subject to regulation under the Freshwater Wetlands Act may be initiated without a permit from NYSDEC within the area that is the subject of the proposal (including the 100 foot wetland adjacent area) until the Commissioner has either amended the map or denied the amendment.

Negative Declaration

Erie County - The Cheektowaga-Maryvale Central School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Capital Improvements will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves includes items identified in the Bond Issue Summary prepared by the District's architect. The project will involve interior and exterior work to buildings and outdoor site work at the Main Campus and Primary School and roof resurfacing at the Continuing/Community Education Building.

Main Campus site work which will disturb existing lawn and track & field areas includes a natatorium (pool) addition to the 11-12 Building, new all-weather track & field areas, expansion/replacement of Stadium bleachers for ADA accessibility, new tennis court, sidewalk and parking lot reconstruction and expansion and drainage improvements. The Primary School's main entrance circle will be reconfigured to provide parking for visitors and drainage improvements.

The majority of the project consists of replacement, reconstruction and renovation work. This will include upgrades to roofs, windows, doors, masonry, walls, floors, ceilings, corridors, lockers and entranceways. Classrooms will be reconstructed or renovated including upgrades to lights, cabinets, boards and technology. Renovations and upgrades to lavatories, gymnasiums, locker and fitness rooms, auditoriums, libraries and offices are included in the project. A second-floor corridor connecting the 9-10 and 11-12 Buildings will be constructed. Fire alarm, security, and public address systems will be replaced, and HVAC, electrical and plumbing upgrades will be undertaken. The interior and exterior areas of the Stadium will be refurbished and new field lighting installed.
