TRA Development LTD proposes to place fill
in 0.47 acres of federal wetlands as part of
construction of a 24 unit apartment complex, Medina Country Estates, on a 3.81 acre
parcel on the north side of East Oak Orchard Street in the Village of Medina. To
mitigate the loss of federal wetland, the applicant proposes to excavate a shallow pond,
and grade and seed to promote growth of shrub and emergent wetland plants over
approximately a one acre area on the nearby Western NY Energy LLC - Shelby Ethanol
Plant property, adjoining a similar area to be created by Western NY Energy. The total
mitigation area on the Ethanol Plant property will be approximately 2 acres, to be
located about 1500 feet north of the Ethanol Plant.
A separate Storm Water Pollution Prevention
Plan for construction on the Medina
Country Estates site, including a temporary sediment trap and a small pond, has been
reviewed and approved by the Department’s Division of Water staff.
The plans are available for review at the
Region 8 NYSDEC office.
