Article 15 Title 15 Water Supply |
| Project is Located: | Fishkill, Dutchess County |
| Project Description: | |
|
The
Town of Fishkill has applied for a Water Supply permit to
develop Well #T-1 in the Snook Road Wellfield for use in the Snook Road
Water Improvement Area, for use in the Merritt Park Water District, and
also to serve water to the Shenandoah Road Area in the Town of East
Fishkill. Well #T-1 is a shallow sand and gravel aquifer well which is
approximately 80 feet deep. It is cased with steel down through the first 60
feet to the water bearing strata. The Town submitted a Hydrogeologic
Investigation Report indicating that the well was tested at a pumping rate of
approximately 1,100 gallons per minute (gpm). The report also states that
five observation wells around Well #T-1 showed little or no fluctuation in
the water elevation of the aquifer during the pumptest.
Water
from the well would be used to provide approximately 300,000
gallons per day to the Snook Road Water Improvement Area, which
includes portions of the Merritt Park Water District, and to provide
approximately 80,000 gallons per day to the Shenandoah Road Area in the
nearby Town of East Fishkill. Additional amounts of water, up to
approximately 400,000 gallons per day, would be used to supplement or
replace existing sources of water, as needed, in three other existing Town of
Fishkill Water Districts, specifically the Brinkerhoff, Blodgett and Glenham
Water Districts.
The
Snook Road Wellfield is located near the intersection of NYS
Route 9 and Snook Road, and is also bordered by Interstate 84, in the Town
of Fishkill, Dutchess County New York.
