Brief Description:
Under a 2005 Consent Order with the NYSDEC, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has prepared a Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) for the Paerdegat Basin located on Jamaica Bay. The LTCP outlines the work that has been done to-date and future plans for improving water quality in Paerdegat Basin, including abatement of the Combined Sewer Overflows into Paerdegat Basin.

Public Meeting: Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hudson River Yacht Club located at Avenue U and Bergen Avenue in Bergen Beach, Brooklyn.

Document Repositories: Two copies of the Paerdegat Basin LTCP Report are available for viewing at the offices of the Brooklyn Community Board 18 at 5715 Avenue H # 1D and at the Paerdegat Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library at 850 E. 59th Street.

Public Comment Period: Will commence on September 26 and conclude on October 27, 2006.

Notice Of Acceptance Of Draft EIS And Public Hearing

New York City County - The New York City Police Department, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed One Police Plaza Security Plan. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on October 4, 2006 at 6:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Second floor auditorium, at 125 Worth Street, New York, NY. A photo I.D. is required to enter the building. Public Comment Period ends October 24, 2006. The action involves the New York City Police Department (NYPD) which has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the security plan established following the events of September 11, 2001 in order to protect City, State, and Federal facilities in the "civic center" portion of lower Manhattan which were, and continue to be, considered potential targets. These security measures included the installation of attended security checkpoint booths, planters, bollards and hydraulically-operated delta barriers to restrict the access of unauthorized vehicles from the roadways situated adjacent to the civic facilities located near NYPD headquarters at One Police Plaza. The project is located at the area bounded by Worth Street to the north, Pearl Street/St. James Place to the east, Centre Street to the west, Avenue of the Finest to the south, New York, NY.
