Suffolk County - The Board of Education of the Three Village Central School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Improvements at the Ward Melville High School will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the Board of Education of the Three Village Central School District proposing improvements at the Ward Melville High School, including construction of a new two-story classroom addition and connecting corridor, construction of a new music addition, construction of a new gymnasium addition, miscellaneous reconstruction and reorganization of interior spaces (90,900± square feet), installation of a new 3,000-gallon underground storage tank for acid storage (associated with science education/laboratory instruction), installation of a new 10,000-gallon underground storage tank for No. 2 fuel oil, conversion of a grass-surface football field to a synthetic turf surface (with the installation of the associated drainage system), relocation of the existing tennis courts (slightly to the south of existing location), new parking (21 spaces) at the westerly portion of the site, new parking (44 spaces) at the northwestern portion of the site, new parking (33 spaces) at the northeastern portion of the site, new parking (47 spaces) at the southeastern portion of the site, and construction of a driveway behind the existing High School building adjoining the north and south parking lots. A Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) was prepared for the proposed action and was accepted as complete by the lead agency on June 13, 2006. Written comments on the DEIS were accepted by the lead agency through July 17, 2006. No comments were received on the DEIS from involved agencies or interested parties. Based on the Board of Education's review of the DEIS and the facts that (1) no comments were received on the DEIS during the comment period therefor, and (2) that, based on the DEIS, the Board of Education has not identified potential significant adverse impacts to the environment that have not been mitigated to the maximum extent practicable, from implementation of the proposed action, pursuant to 6 NYCRR 617.9(a)(5)(i), an FEIS will not be prepared, and a Negative Declaration has been issued. Suffolk County - The Town of Southampton Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Greek Orthodox Church may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves a new church building, the construction of a cultural center and the conversion of the existing church into a community center with associated parking improvements on a 3.8-acre parcel. The project is a 3.8-acre parcel located in the R-60 Zoning District on the northwest corner of St Andrews Road and Nicholas Court, Shinnecock Hills, Town of Southampton (SCTM No. 900-211-1-10.4).
