Project Description:
The application is for the mining of gravel and material processing with a portable dry-screen that has a maximum capacity less than 150 tons per hour, on 20.4 acres of land. This includes 1.2 acres for the haul road from the mine to Chautauqua County Route 35 (Open Meadows Road). The estimated life of the mine is 20 years and the reclamation objective is meadow for recreation or farming. The site is about 1,200 feet north of Open Meadows Road and 300 feet east of Carpenter Pringle Road. The haul road connection to Open Meadows Road will be 600 feet east of the intersection of these roads.
State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:
Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.
SEQR Lead Agency:
NYS Department of Environmental Conservation
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:
A Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form has been completed. The proposed activity will not impact on registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.
Coastal Management:
This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
Opportunity for Public Comment:
Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Oct 6 2006.
