ENB Region 8 Completed Applications 08/16/2006

The Department has received an application to modify the wastewater discharge permit for the Corning Inc. Sullivan Park facility.  This modification involves the addition of 20 gallons per minute of noncontact cooling water to the wastestream of Outfall 007, the reduction of monitoring frequncy for fluoride at Outfall 002 from twice per month to monthly and the update of the table for water treatment chemicals (WTCs) to reflect the WTCs currently in use.  Based on the addition of noncontact cooling water to the discharge of Outfall 007, new effluent limits for Ammonia (as N), Biological Oxygen Demand - 5 day, Chloride, Fluoride, Total Dissolved Solids and Temperature have been added to the permit to maintain water quality.  This facility discharges to the Cohocton River and a tributary to the Tioga River, both Class C streams. The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application.  As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comments prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.  A draft permit is available for review.
