Negative Declaration

Herkimer County- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed management objectives in the Draft Unit Management Plan for Alger Island Public Campground and Fourth Lake Day Use Area will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. These objectives include: modernizing the Fourth Lake toilet building, evaluating an upgrade of the boat launch, installing two composting toilets on Alger Island, constructing two new docks on Alger Island, constructing a new head wall on Alger Island, replacing lean-tos on Alger Island, constructing docks and the head wall at Fourth lake; and upgrading the parking area and access road at Fourth Lake. Alger Island Public Campground and Fourth Lake Day Use Area are located in Herkimer County, on the Fourth Lake of the Fulton Chain of Lakes, approximately 5 miles northeast of the Hamlet of Old Forge.

Herkimer County- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed management objectives in the Draft Unit Management Plan for Nicks Lake Public Campground will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. These objectives include: improving access to the lake for people with disabilities, installing four comfort stations, improving water system, paving roads and parking areas, constructing a new sign standard at entrance, and controlling erosion. Nicks Lake Public Campground is located off of Rt. 28 and the Bisby Road, 1.5 miles southwest of the village of Old Forge, in Herkimer County.
