Ulster County - This action involves the cutting of trees at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center for the relocation of the maintenance garage at the facility and a related access road and waterline. A total of 579 trees over 3" in diameter will be removed to accomplish the project. The project was approved in the 1998 unit management plan for the ski center which did not include a specific tree count. Notice of tree cutting is required by Commissioner's delegation memorandum # 84-06. An amendment to Article XIV of the New York State Constitution allows for the operation of Belleayre Mountain Ski Center which is part of the Catskill Forest Preserve. There are no known rare, threatened or endangered plant species located in or bordering the disturbed area. Following tree cutting and stump removal, the area will be seeded and mulched.
