The Department of Environmental
Conservation (DEC) has received an
application to re-issue
the following EPA minor Private/Commercial/In-
stitutional State Pollutant
Discharge Elimination System (P/C/I SPDES)
permit. DEC has made
a tentative determination to re-issue this permit
for a five-year period,
maintaining the current effluent limitations and
monitoring and reporting
requirements. This permit involves the surface
discharge of 2,000 gallons
per day of treated sanitary waste to an
unnamed trib of Rondout
Creek.

The applicant proposes
to restore stream flow through approximately 1300 linear feet of
eroded and blocked stream channel by constructing a variety of flow modification
measures and stream embankment improvements within the Sawkill Creek, Class B(t),
including construction of boulder barriers to redirect stream flow into the original
obstructed stream channel, construction of new rip-rap and stone and wooden revetments
to repair eroded areas of embankment, excavation of gravel and cobble deposits, removal
of debris, and regrading of the stream channel. The project is being undertaken to correct
existing erosion and to prevent further erosion of stream embankments, control
deposition of sediments, and prevent flooding. The project is located on the Sawkill
Creek east of the intersection of Yerry Hill Road and Dixon Avenue in the Town of
Woodstock, Ulster County.
