Project Description:
The Department has made a tentative determination to approve an application for the modification of an existing State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit for the Remington Steam Plant facility at 11 Remington Ave. The applicant's (Remington Arms Company, Inc.) request is the result of their acquiring a portion of the NRG-Ilion Energy Center facility. Part of the modification will be to amend the flow chart to reflect the applicant's use of the facility as a steam boiler plant. Additional modifications will include elimination of effluent limits and monitoring requirements for total chlorine use at outfall 001 and elimination of "Additional Requirements" number 3 for chlorine use. These changes reflect the fact that Chlorine based biocides will no longer be used. Special Conditions and Best Management Practices will also be updated.
