Bethpage
Energy Center 3, LLC., a subsidiary of Calpine Corporation, proposes to
modify the permits for the Bethpage Energy Center 3 electric generating station by
including one distillate-oil fired boiler, eight natural gas-fired space heaters, and allow the
combustion gas turbine to operate in both combined-cycle and simple-cycle mode.
The
Bethpage Energy Center 3 electric generating station consists of a General Electric
(GE) LM 6000 PC SPRINT Combustion Turbine Generator (CTG), a two-cell wet
cooling tower with a drift eliminator to serve the inlet air chillers, a Once Through Steam
Generator (OTSG) with duct burners, a steam turbine generator (STG), a five-cell wet
cooling tower with a drift eliminator, and associated balance-of-plant systems and
equipment. This electric generating station is part of, and adjacent to, the existing TBG
Cogen Partners cogeneration facility and CPN Bethpage 3rd turbine, Inc. simple cycle gas
turbine station located at 939 South Broadway, Hicksville.
The
Department has made a tentative decision to approve this modification, and draft
permits are available by calling the contact listed below in this notice.

The applicant proposes to operate a laundromat
facility at 1821 Brentwood Rd., in the
Hamlet of Brentwood, Town of Islip, Suffolk County, NY. The applicant proposes to
discharge approximately 68,000 gallons per day of laundry wastewater - to groundwater,
from an Aquarelle Generation II filtration water treatment system.
The Department has made a tentative determination
to issue a permit for a State
Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental
Conservation Law. This tentative determination indicates that the discharge regulated
under this statute is considered to satisfy regulatory standards for permit issuance,
based on information available to the Department at this time. As a tentative
determination, the Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior
to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination does
not signify department approval for, or endorsement of, the activity for which a permit is
sought or for the overall proposed project.
