Consolidated SPDES Renewals
Suffolk County - The Suffolk County Office of the County Executive, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Suffolk County Vector Control and Wetlands Management. Comments on the Draft GEIS are requested and will be accepted by the contact person until July 17, 2006. The Suffolk County Department of Environment and Energy, Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS) and Suffolk County Department of Public Works (SCDPW) have been overseeing the development and early implementation of a Suffolk County-wide long-term vector control and wetlands management plan and accompanying Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement (DGEIS). The DGEIS has evaluated potential impacts associated with the Long-Term Plan, and compared those impacts to impacts associated with reasonable alternatives considered as part of the DGEIS. The DGEIS further identifies mitigations for the potential impacts, and has determined if there are cumulative impacts, unavoidable adverse impacts, and if implementing the Long-Term Plan will require the irretrievable commitment of County resources. The DGEIS is also available at www.suffolkmosquitocontrolplan.org. Public hearings will be scheduled shortly and appropriate notices will be filed.
