The Department has prepared
a draft permit and made a tentative determination to
approve this new application for the on-going discharge of process waste water from
dredging, classifying and washing of gravel and sand as well as ground water and storm
water, after treatment by sedimentation, to mined lakes that are tributary to Conewango
Creek and to an unnamed tributary of Conewango Creek. Of the outfalls to surface
waters, Outfall No. 001 is to a Class "D" water and Outfalls Nos. 002, 003, 005 and 006
to Class "C" waters. Outfall No. 004 is for discharge of treated sanitary wastewater from
employee-use facilities to groundwater (Class "GA"). The Department's tentative
determination indicates that the regulated discharges satisfy the regulatory standards for
permit issuance based on information in the application.

Placement of 150 feet of
stone (10-12 inches in size) riprap in front of a failing bulkhead
protecting the north side of the island the club occupies in Tuscarora Bay. The rip rap
will extend four feet out from the base of the bulkhead. The project will result in a need
to move the existing docks, number 13 - 26, approximately 12 feet towards the
navigational channel. The realignment of the docks will also bring them in to alignment
with other docks at the Wilson Yacht Club.
