Permit(s) Applied for: Article 24 Freshwater Wetlands
Article 15 Title 3 Aquatic Pesticides
Project is Located: Hyde Park, Dutchess County
Project Description:
DEC has tentatively determined to issue a renewal to this existing Article 15 Freshwater Wetlands (FW) permit, which will authorize the use of aquatic herbicide in FW HP-3 (Upper Apple Lake) for the removal of invasive aquatic vegetation.  This renewal is proposed for issuance in conjunction with the renewal and modification of an existing Article 15 Aquatic Pesticides permit to treat Upper Apple Lake.  The Aquatic Pesticide permit renewal would authorize a repeat application of the aquatic herbicide, Glyphosate. The modification to the permit regards the use of the aquatic herbicide, Diquat, in spot treatments throughout the lake.  Diquat was not authorized in previous permits to treat this lake.  The permit would also include re-authorization to use the aquatic algaecide Copper Sulfate.

Species targeted include Eurasian Water Milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum), Purple Loostrife (Lythrum salicara), Curlyleaf Pondweed (Potamogeton crispus) and common algae.  This permit will also authorize minor spot removal, via non-chemical (i.e. hand pulling) means, of the above referenced vegetation species in Freshwater Wetland HP-3 and the associated 100-foot Adjacent Area.
