| Project is Located: | Torrey, Yates County |
| Project Description: | |
|
The applicant operates an
instrumented calibration and testing facility from an anchored
barge on Seneca Lake related to underwater acoustic testing near the Village of Dresden.
The Department has received an application to modify the referenced wastewater
discharge permit. This permit covers the discharge of non contact cooling water from a
heat pump to Seneca Lake. The proposed modification will change the discharge water
temperature requirement. The requirement to maintain a temperature difference not to
exceed 3 degrees Fahrenheit between input and output is proposed to be replaced by a
maximum discharge temperature to be equal or less than 70 degrees Fahrenheit. This
discharge will meet New York State Water Quality Standards with the proposed
modification.
The Department has made
a tentative determination to approve this modification. As a
tentative determination, the Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated
activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. A draft permit is available
for review.
