West Hook Sand and Gravel
Company (West Hook) proposes to mine sand and gravel
from an additional 2.5 acres of land located along the southern perimeter slope within
Phase 1 of its existing mine. This expansion proposes the removal of material up to the
property boundary adjoining lands owned by Louis Warren. In addition, West Hook
proposes to remove additional material from within Phase 1 by generally increasing the
final slope in this area to a 1.5 : 1 configuration. Approximately 11.5 acres will be re-affected
as a result of this proposed slope modification.

Applicant proposes to construct
a 3,520 square foot building ( 1,760 s.f. ea. floor) on a
1.23 acre parcel located on the west side of County Road 47 and on the south side of
Lauer Road. The first floor will be used as a restaurant and the top floor will be a two
bedroom apartment. The project will require construction of a stormwater water quality
swale and basin system, access road and some parking within the 100 foot adjacent area
of freshwater wetland PV-36 (class 2). All work will be at least 50 feet away from the
wetland. All sanitary wastewater will be collected in a 4,000 gallon holding tank for off
site disposal until municipal sewer becomes available.

United Water New York has
requested approval to acquire, as a source of water for its
general water distribution system, the Letchworth Village Water System, through a long-term license
with the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the
Palisades Interstate Park commission. The license will include water rights for operation
of three reservoirs, operation of the existing filtration treatment plant and associated
water facilities. The reservoirs and water filtration plant are located within Harriman
State Park and had formerly been operated by the NYS Office for Mental Retardation and
Development Disabilities as the water supply system for Letchworth Village.
United Water New York has
requested an annual taking of up to 365 million gallons, with
up to 45 million gallons in any month from this system.
