Positive Declaration And Public Scoping

Rensselaer County - The New York State Department Of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Troy Sand and Gravel Inc., West Sand Lake Quarry modification (DEC #4-3840-00008/00001) may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves a proposed modification which would reduce the existing bedrock excavation area from 85 acres to 62 acres, and lower the mine floor from 530' msl to 430' msl and mining below the water table in a 35 acre area of the existing quarry. Written comments may be submitted on the draft scoping outline and will be accepted by the Department until COB on May 3, 2006.
