The applicant proposes the installation of a water distribution system, which will
include 7,700 linear feet of 12 inch watermain and related appurtenances, to
serve the newly created Allegany County Water District No. 1. Under the terms
of a Water Sales Agreement, the County proposes to purchase water from the
village of Belmont in amounts estimated to average 26,200 gallons per day with
a maximum daily demand of 39,300 gallons per day. This new water district will
initially serve a total of 24 residential, 4 commercial parcels and the new
Allegany County Correctional Facility. The new water district will encompass 220
acres of land along NYS Rte. 19 from the south boundary of the Village of
Belmont extending south about 1 mile.

The proposal is a USDA/NRCS
Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) project to restore
wetland hydrology on about 157 acres altered by previous farming and beaver dam
removals in State regulated Freshwater Wetland #BC-1 and its 100-foot Adjacent Area.
It is proposed to use existing soil piles from the southwest corner of the WRP site to
construct a low-level earthen berm 4-foot high or less, 900 feet long, with a plastic
sheet-pile weir to control peak storm discharges and a water control structure to control
low flows outlet to Tributary 9 of Oil Creek. Two 1.5 acre potholes are proposed at the
northwest corner of the WRP site, in the 100-foot wide Adjacent Area of Wetland #BC-1.
The project site is north side of Jackson Hill Road, east of NYS Rte. 305 and west of the
Genesee Valley Greenway Trail in the Town of Cuba, Allegany County.

The New York State Department
of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has reviewed the
Hazardous Waste Management Permit renewal application submitted by Honeywell
International Inc., Buffalo Research Laboratory, 20 Peabody Street, Buffalo, and made a
tentative determination to issue a 6 NYCRR Part 373 Permit to incorporate measures
addressing soil and groundwater contamination. The Part 373 Permit will require
Honeywell International to develop an updated soil management plan and an updated
annual groundwater monitoring program as part of Corrective Action measures.
The Draft Permit, application
and fact sheet are available for public review during normal
business hours at NYSDEC, Region 9 Office, Division of Environmental Permits, 270
Michigan Avenue, Buffalo, NY. Copies of the documents are also available at NYSDEC,
Division of Solid and Hazardous Materials, Albany, contact Person: Mr. Edwin Dassatti.
