| Project is Located: | Schroon, Essex County |
| Project Description: | |
|
The applicant proposes to
dredge approx. 550 cu yds of sediment from an existing 50'W x
300'L cove at the mouth of Horseshoe Pond Brook to restore boat access to an existing
marina on Schroon Lake. The dredged spoil will be disposed of in a spoil basin at an
upland site. An instream sediment retention basin will be installed upstream of the docks
to capture sediments. The sediments from this basin will be periodically cleaned out on
an as-needed basis to minimize sediment accumulation in the rest of the cove. Rock rip
rap will be used to stabilize a 20'L area on the west side of the retention basin. This cove
was previously dredged under DEC permit issued in 1994. The project is located on the
west side of Schroon Lake, east side of Route 9 in the Town of Schroon.
