Permit(s) Applied for: Article 17 Titles 7 & 8 Municipal SPDES
Project is Located: Port Jervis, Orange County
Project Description:
The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application to modify a SPDES permit to reflect various changes in operation of the facility and a decrease in flow from an existing surface discharge (Outfall No. 001) from five (5) million gallons per day (MGD) to 2.5 MGD of treated sanitary wastewater from the City of Port Jervis municipal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP)  into the Neversink River (Class B).  The reduction in flow represents an administrative correction to the issued SPDES permit for this facility and is based upon submitted engineering documents for this facility.  The proposed modification to the SPDES permit includes revisions to certain  influent sampling requirements, monitoring requirements, and effluent limits. The project also involves replacing various equipment at the facility and constructing new primary clarifier, gravity thickener and sludge holding tank.  There will be no increase in permitted volume of the discharge as a result of the project. The Port Jervis WWTP  is located at 4 Neversink Drive in the City of Port Jervis, Orange County. A draft permit is available for inspection and comment at the regional office.
