parcel. The total area of disturbance to the adjacent area of the wetland is approximately
0.23 acre; no disturbance to the wetland is proposed. The project is located on the north
side of NYS Route 94 and south of Mount Airy Road in the Towns of New Windsor and
Cornwall, Orange County. A stormwater management plan has been prepared and is
available for review.

The town wishes to divert
an approximate 700 foot long sectionof the Rondout Creek
from its current channel back to a former channnel in order to alleviate flooding impacts
to County Route 42( Peekamoose Road) and residential structures in the area. The former
channel will be excavated as necessary to remove accumulated gravel and debris to
ensure adequate flow capacity. A permanent stone fill diversion structure will be placed
across the current channel. In addition, a portion of a large gravel bar between the two
channels will be removed and some of this material used to backfill eroded areas on the
east bank of the current channel. The project site is located west of Peekamoose Road,
approximately 800 feet upstream from the Ballace Road bridge.
