The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) administers the Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) pursuant to State Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) 27-1400 et seq. The BCP was created to encourage the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated properties known as brownfields. The requestor indicated above has submitted a BCP application for investigation of the site indicated above.
NYSDEC will accept public comments concerning the application. A copy of the application and other appropriate documents (application package) is available in the site document repository located at the address indicated below.
NYSDEC will review the application package and public comments received and then make a determination on the eligibility of the application.

Monore County - The City of Rochester, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Bittner Building will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves construction of a 24-unit apartment building with 3 floors (2 below grade) of parking garage. The project is located adjacent to a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The project is located at 37 Bittner Steet.

Monroe County - The Town of Brighton Town Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed University of Rochester IPD Rezoning. A public hearing on the Draft Generic EIS will be held on January 11, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brighton Town Hall, 2300 Elmwood Avenue, Brighton, NY. Written comments will be accepted until January 23, 2005. The action involves the rezoning and incentive zoning of approximately 188 + acres of land from Residential-Low Density (RLB) to Institutional Planned Development (IPD). Two alternative building conceptual plans have been developed, both showing a total potential build out of approximately 1,935,000 square feet. The project is located in the Town of Brighton, Monroe County. The project area is bounded on the north by Interstate Route 390, on the west by the former Lehigh Valley Railroad right of way, on the east by W. Henrietta Road, and on the south by Southland Drive and Crittenden Road.
