| Project Description: | |
|
Widening and resurfacing
the existing Linear Park Bike Path (owned by the Town of
Grand Island) from an eight-foot wide trail to a twelve-foot wide trail through a portion of
the Grand Island Boulevard (TW-9) Wetland and its regulated 100 foot wide adjacent
area. From the north end of this existing trail, there is currently a trail through the woods
(TW- 20 Wetland) connecting the Linear Park Bike Path to East-West Park Road in
Buckhorn Island State Park. A second portion of the project will consist of building a
twelve-foot wide multi-use path along the 650 feet of trail, a portion of which is within
the TW-20 Wetland and its regulated 100 foot wide adjacent area. Because this is an
upgrading of an existing trail, it will follow the same alignment, and there will be
minimal disturbance to the existing vegetation and trees. The remaining new multi-use
trail is within portions of the regulated 100 foot wide adjacent area of the TW-20 and
Buckhorn Island State Park (TW-19) Wetlands. A new bike trail will be created by
paving a six-foot wide shoulder along both sides of the East-West Park Road from
Baseline Road to the NYS Thruway overpass (approximately 1.21 miles - each side). The
TW-9, TW-19 and TW-20 Wetlands are class I wetlands.

| Project Description: | |
|
As part of the construction
of a paved parking area for Meyer's RV Superstore, it is
proposed to fill 0.44 acre of the HB-10 Wetland, a class II wetland. As mitigation for the
0.44 acre of wetland to be filled, 0.68 acre of shallow emergent marsh will be created
between the parking area and the HB-10 Wetland. That 0.68 acre of emergent marsh to
be created includes 0.31 acre of existing shrub swamp which will be enhanced. In
addition, the emergent marsh will be connected to a 0.21 acre stormwater detention basin
to be constructed within the regulated 100 foot wide adjacent area of the HB-10 Wetland.
Meyer's RV Superstore is located at 5533 Camp Road. As mitigation for impacts to 0.8
acre of Federally jurisdictional wetland on the project site, 1.67 acres of shallow/deep
water emergent marsh will be created at the Town of Hamburg Lakeview Recreation Area
site (commonly known as the "Nike Base") located at 2720 Lakeview Road.
