A hunting a fishing cabin is proposed for this lot. Lot #2 and Lot #4 are each 42 acres and will be conveyed as bona fide gifts and are, therefore, not subject to Agency review jurisdiction. The property is vacant, has no shoreline on any navigable water body and has no wetlands.

Project Title: Town of Piercefield
Location: The 10 acre project site is approximately ¼ mile west of NYS Route 3, 0.3 mile north of Rte 3 crossing of Dead Creek.

Project Description: The Town of Piercefield proposes a life of mine sand and gravel extraction totaling 10 acres on a portion of 1,227 acres of land owned by Land Management & Development, Inc., a subsidiary of Niagara Mohawk, now National Grid Power Company. Annual extraction by the town is estimated at 1,000 cubic yards, with an on-site wet crushing and screening plant, with a maximum of 25 truck trips per day during the summer, weekdays, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, using an existing gravel access road. The material is to be used by the town for road construction and repair. Site drainage is to be contained within the pit and a no disturbance buffer is to be maintained to protect nearby wetlands. This project is subject to coordinated review with DEC Region 6 under the Mined Land Reclamation Law.

Project Description: The action involves: An existing 10,000± square foot single family dwelling constructed in 2003 will be utilized as a bed and breakfast, a new tourist accommodation. Three of the six bedrooms will be used as guest rooms. Maximum guest occupancy will be six persons with the average total number of guests being 240 during the summer months, 90 during the fall months and 80 during the winter and spring months. The B&B will be open year-round for approximately 100 days per year but will be closed from Mid-October through December and from March through May. Two part-time employees will work approximately 6 months each year, and two full-time employees will work the entire year. A three-bay garage is existing and a four-space parking area is proposed. The 73± acre site has 420± feet of shoreline on Friend’s Lake and is developed by a 2-bay boathouse. The dwelling is served by an individual on-site well water supply and a shallow absorption trench on-site wastewater treatment system constructed in 2004.

Project Title: Lake Placid Airport Obstruction Removal
Location: NYS Route 73 and River Road, Town of North Elba, Essex County

Project Description: The project involves the removal of trees and brush from 6.57± acres, the removal of ten specific trees, the installation of road signs at the north end of the airport where a dirt road crosses the flight line of Runway 14, and the lighting of fencing between the horseshow grounds and the airport. The new lighting will be tied to the existing airport lighting and will be pilot activated. All of the tree removal and clearing will occur on Town of North Elba Park District property or where the Town holds existing navigation easements. The 6.57± acres of tree removal will occur in seven areas. Five of the tree removal areas are located around Runway 32, with three areas located north of the West Branch of the Au Sable River and two areas located south of the river on the south side of River Road. Two small areas of trees will be removed from a wetland northwest of Runway 14. Removal of trees from the wetland will occur when the ground is frozen or dry and will be done by hand equipment. Stumps and root systems will not be disturbed within wetlands or on steep slopes above the river. Limited cutting will occur within 100 feet of the Au Sable River.
Essex County - The Adirondack Park Agency, as lead agency, has accepted a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Map Amendment 2005-8 (Hough/Town of St. Armand). A public hearing on the Supplemental Draft EIS will be held on December 20, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. at the Town of St. Armand Town Hall, Bloomingdale, NY. The public comment period ends December 30, 2005. The action involves amendment of the Official Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan Map in the Town of St. Armand, Essex County (Map Amendment 2005-8) to reclassify from Resource Management to Hamlet an approximately 160 acre parcel located westerly of Main Street, near the settlement of Bloomingdale, pursuant to the Adirondack Park Agency Act, Section 805 (2)(c)(1). The project is located in the Town of St. Armand, Essex County.
