Article 23 Title 27 Mined Land Reclamation |
| Project is Located: | Marbletown, Ulster County |
| Project Description: | |
|
The applicant proposes
to utilize new equipment, a hydraulic rock hammer and a drop
ball, at an existing 4.9 acre bluestone and shale mine on a 10.7-acre site over the five year
permit term. The proposed rock hammer will be used to fracture an existing bedrock
ledge at the mine to facilitate material removal. The proposed drop ball will be used to
reduce the size of excavated rock. The currently permitted surface mine is anticipated to
remove 100,000 cubic yards of material from the site at the rate of several thousand cubic
yards per year. Proposed final reclamation will return the mine site to open space. No
other changes in mine operation or reclamation are proposed; no further modification to
the existing permit for operation of this facility is proposed. The mine is located on the
east side of Quarry Road, approximately 1,000 feet east of the intersection with Lapla
Road in the Town of Marbletown, Ulster County.
