Positive Declaration And Public Scoping

Seneca County - The Town Board of the Town of Seneca Falls, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Empire Biofuels, LLC Ethanol Plant may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. Written Comments on the draft scope will be accepted until September 27, 2005. The action involves the rezoning of a 165-acre parcel from A-1 Agricultural District to M-1 Industrial District and special use permit approval by the Zoning Board of Appeals for a production facility that will convert yellow dent corn by fermentation annually to 50-million gallons of fuel ethanol, 168,000 tons of distillerís grain and 121,000 tons of carbon dioxide. The project is located at 1911 Auburn Road (Route 5/20) northeast of the Village of Seneca Falls in the Town of Seneca Falls, County of Seneca adjacent to the Cayuga and Seneca Canal.
