ENB Region 6 Completed Applications 08/31/2005

The applicant proposes to expand a 9.9 acre sand mine to include an additional 8.6 acres on an 18.5 acre parcel controlled by the applicant.  The site is located approximately 700' south of Nash Road, 1,000' west of NYS Route 26 on the Fort Drum military base.  The sand will be utilized for on base housing construction needs.

The applicant proposes to construct a 112 foot by 38 foot crib deflector on the West Branch of the Mohawk River. The West Branch is a class A, standard A(TS) stream. Severe erosion has taken place at the site. Region 6 Fisheries staff has assisted in design of the project.

The applicant proposes to add 0.85 acres to an existing permitted and operated 47 acre sand and gravel mine on a 208.1 acre parcel owned by the Raquette Valley Fish and Game Club, Cold Brook Drive, Colton, New York 13625.  The site is located approximately one mile southwest of the Village of South Colton, south of Cold Brook Drive.  On-site processing takes place at this facility.

The applicant proposes to mine 2.8 acres of sand and gravel from an 11.4 acre life of mine on a 50.4 acre parcel owned by the applicant.  The site is located 2,000' northwest of Murphy Road, 2,500' southwest of the intersection of Murphy Road and Basely Road, three miles south of the Village of Lisbon.  To access the mine site, a 300' long x 20' wide x 3' high roadway, supported on a filter fabric base, would be constructed across regulated freshwater wetland LI-5, a 6144 acre Class II wetland, consisting of wet meadow and shrub swamp at the proposed crossing site.

The applicant proposes to fill an existing pond area approximately 1.5 acres in size and divert drainage away from the site to facilitate development of a fuel service facility and potential second retail store, south of NYS Route 37 near Ogdensburg.  The site is mapped as a federal wetland inventory site.  The site is further located 560' southwest of NYS Route 68.
