The applicant has requested
a modification to the current permit to allow onsite
processing of material, using a small portable crusher and screener, at the existing gravel
mine located on the east side of Church Road, approximately 2,000 feet south of Morrey
Road in the Town of Dickinson. Crushing and/or screening will occur 3 to 4 weeks per
year, and a berm will be maintined around the equipment.

The Town of Thurman proposes to add 28 acres to the Life Of Mine (LOM), to a presently permitted 9-acre LOM sand and gravel mine, for the purpose of extracting additional unconsolidated gravel and sand. The mine is sited in the north-central portion of a contiguous land parcel, to the west of River Road, totaling ~155 acres. The Town proposes to mine about 5,000 cubic yards of material per year, and process it with screen and crusher for its municipal use. the development of a sand and gravel mine of 34.6 Life-of-Mine acres at the westmost portion of their
+/- 125.30-acre contiguous parcel which is
located on the west side of Wilbur Ave., ~0.8 mi. south of its intersection with General
Fellows Rd. Mining has been occurring at the site, below the NYS DEC regulatory
thresholds, and will continue to operate as a traditional surface extraction of sand and
gravel by means of mechanical excavation. Application materials are available for public
