Notice Of Acceptance Of Final EIS

Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of Babylon, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed site plan, subdivision/rezone Application No. 2001-39ABE, Gustave J. Wade, n/e/c Main Avenue and Colonial Springs Road, Wheatley Heights, New York. The action involves the subdivision of an approximately 34 acre parcel to maintain existing landscaping business on 1.88 acres and the rezoning of portions of the 32.277 acre site to Senior Citizen Multiple Residence (SCMR) and Multiple Residence (MR) and construction of 264 SCMR units, 128 MR units, 21 single family units, 12,750 square foot community center and parking and other site improvements. Note: the project sponsor is now pursuing Alternative 2, single family residential subdivision, as the proposed action as identified in the relevant Draft EIS and Final EIS. The Final EIS contains additional environmental analysis on Alternative 2. The project is located on the northeast corner of Main Avenue and Colonial Springs Road, Wheatley Heights, Town of Babylon, County of Suffolk, New York.

Suffolk County - The Board of Education of the Hauppauge Union Free School District, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Additions and Alterations at the Hauppauge Middle School. The proposed action specifically includes an overall 22,300-square-foot expansion to the existing Middle School and the following specific components: 10,000-square-foot, 10-classroom building addition at the southeast corner of the Middle School; 5,500-square-foot cafeteria with stage addition at the southern portion of the Middle School and to the west of the proposed classroom addition; 1,800-square-foot library addition on the southern portion of the Middle School and to the west of the proposed cafeteria addition; 2,000-square-foot gymnasium addition (for one additional station) at the southwestern portion of the Middle School; 3,000-square-foot locker room addition on the west side of the existing Middle School; and expansion of the existing parking area on the west side of the Middle School property for an additional 50 parking spaces. Written comments on the FEIS will be accepted by the contact person listed above until July 18, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. The FEIS is available for public review at the office of the contact person, office of the District Clerk and at the Hauppauge Public Library (601 Veterans Memorial Highway, Hauppauge, New York) and at the Smithtown Public Library Main Branch (One North Country Road, Smithtown, New York). The project is located at 600 Town Line Road, Hamlet of Hauppauge, Town of Islip.
