Permit(s) Applied for: Section 401 - Clean Water Act Water Quality Certification
Project is Located: Jefferson County
Project Description:
The applicant proposes an expansion at its solid waste management facility, located south of State Route 177, approximately two miles east of Rodman.  The expansion would include approximately 112 acres of liner and 37 acres of additional area for supporting facilities, such as: perimeter roads, landfill berms, and stormwater ponds.  The proposal will impact 12.85 acres of federally regulated scrub/shrub and wet meadow wetlands and the relocation of approximately 4220' of intermittent streams.  Several alternative designs for the expansion were considered, with the Southern Alternative chosen due to remote location, life span, and, in general, the minimization of environmental impacts over other alternatives.  Impacts to wetland and intermittent stream courses would be mitigated, in cooperation with a qualified environmental organization.
