Application ID: 8-5736-00016/00011
Permit(s) Applied for: Section 401 - Clean Water Act Water Quality Certification
Project is Located: Torrey, Yates County
Project Description:

The applicant proposes the dredging of approximately 3600 cubic yards of contaminated sediment from the Seneca Lake Sonar Test Facility lagoon in Dresden. Samples collected from the proposed dredging areas show that the material is contaminated generally with low levels of metals and polycyclic-aromatic hydrocarbons and is not considered hazardous. Dredge spoils will be beneficially used as daily landfill cover at a Department permitted Part 360 landfill under a predetermined Beneficial Use Determination (BUD). The water resulting from the sediment dewatering process will be sent to a Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW). Additionally, 584 linear feet of sheet piling will be installed to stabilize the lagoon shoreline.
