Project Description:

The applicant proposes to mine unconsolidated sand and gravel from a 4.06 acre life-of-mine facility on a 24.27 acre parcel owned by Coral and Edward Reeves, located on the east side of Creek Road, approximately 600 feet south of Center Road and about 2 miles southwest of the Village of Genoa, located in the Town of Genoa in the County of Cayuga. The mine will be reclaimed to a vegetated meadow.  Material will be either produced as bankrun or processed through a dry screen and/or crusher located within the excavation area.  No air permit or registration is required for this process.  The application, mining and reclamation plans are available for review in the Syracuse Office.


State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:
Project is a Type I action and will not have a significant effect on the environment. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a Negative Declaration is on file.
SEQR Lead Agency:
NYS Department of Environmental Conservation
State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:
A cultural resources survey has been completed. Based on information provided in the survey report, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) has determined that the proposed activity will have no impact on registered or eligible archaeological sites or historic structures. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.
Coastal Management:
This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.
