The applicant proposes a
new water supply source for the Village of Malone, by
installation of two new groundwater wells located on Village property in Chasm Falls.
The new wells, rated at 2.88 million gallons per day, will replace the existing spring
source of supply (open reservoir and supply intake) which will be abandoned. The
project also includes the installation of approximately 6,000 lineal feet of new
transmission water main, construction of a new 3 million gallon water tank at the
Pinnacle, and construction of a new treatment plant at Chasm Falls.

The applicant proposes to
increase the life of mine mine of the existing 6.5-acre quarry by
2.8 acres within a 110 acre parcel. The mining activity will included the extraction of
granitic gneiss and sandstone from a 20 foot high face. The extraction process will include
drilling, blasting, removal with a front end loader. Blasting will consist of small charges
intended to crack the rock into manageable pieces for hand processing by hammer and
chisel. After the stone is removed from the quarry area, sorted, and palletized it will be
transferred to the applicant's retail site in Granville by small truck two times per day.
There will be no retail sales of this material from the proposed quarry site. Application
materials are available for public review and comment at the NYS DEC Regional Sub-Office in Warrensburg.
