The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) administers the Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) pursuant to State Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) 27-1400 et seq. The BCP was created to encourage the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated properties known as brownfields. The requestor indicated above has submitted a BCP application for investigation of the site indicated above.

NYSDEC will accept public comments concerning the application. A copy of the application and other appropriate documents (application package) is available in the site document repository located at the address indicated below.

NYSDEC will review the application package and public comments received and then make a determination on the eligibility of the application.

Positive Declaration

Suffolk County - The Southampton Town Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed 94 Dune Road Holding Corp. may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves site plan/wetland permit application to replace all existing bulkheads (257 linear feet) within 18 inches; construct 12’ return on bulkhead’s west end and bulkhead existing boat ramp at apparent high water; dredge 2,500’x50’ (125,000 sq. ft. areal extent) approach channel in DEC regulated tidal wetlands to a depth of 4 feet; “incidental” dredging of 132 cubic yards in the existing marina boat basin; multi-year maintenance dredging; construction of a floating dock system (approximately 4,036 sq. ft.) with 54 boat slips, including ramps; remove all existing docks; construct new boat house (480 sq. ft.); replace all boardwalks and construct new drop catwalk (1,248 sq. ft.) and walkways; remove existing tennis courts and construct accessory parking area for 76 additional parking spaces adjacent to tidal wetlands; new fuel service; new pump-out station; construct new septic system (septic field 4,224 sq. ft.). The project is located at 94 Dune Road, East Quogue, Town of Southampton, Long Island, New York, Suffolk County (SCTM No. 900-385-1-36.3). Located on the north side of Dune Road, approximately 600 feet west of Dolphin Lane.

Notice Of Acceptance Of Draft EIS And Public Hearing

Suffolk County - The Town of Southampton, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Maritine PDD zone change application of Rivercatwalk. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on June 28, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Road, Southampton, NY. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until July 8, 2005. The action involves the construction of a four-story 83,441 sq. ft. waterfront hotel with catering and conference facilities (to include accessory recreational amenities such as an inground pool, mini-golf/playground area and waterfront access points/canoe launch), four (4) two-story (40 unit) extended-stay cottages (three 7,290 sq. ft. and one 3,372 sq. ft.), and a 16,000 sq. ft. restaurant/office/retail building on a 19,825 acre subject property located between Flanders Road and the Peconic River, approximately 450 ft. east of the traffic circle forming the intersection of Flanders Road, Riverleigh Avenue, Peconic Avenue and Riverhead Moriches Road, within the existing Resort Waterfront Business (RWB) Zoning District, Highway Business Zoning District and R-80 Residence, in Southampton identified as Suffolk County Tax Map Parcels 900-118-02-9, 13-16, 18, 20.1, 25 and 900-118.1-1-2.
