ENB Region 8 Completed Applications 05/25/2005

The applicant proposes a treatment to +/-60 acre/feet of Indian Falls Lake with the aquatic herbicide Aquathol K to control Eurasian water milfoil, an invasive non-native aquatic plant species.  The application will be surface and sub-surface using a power sprayer at a concentration not to exceed 1.9 gallons per acre/foot.  A maximum of 114 gallons will be allowed.  The project site is Indian Falls Lake, south of Sliker Road, approximately 1 mile west of NYS Rt. 77.

The applicant proposes a one-time treatment to 10 acres of Horseshoe Lake with the aquatic herbicide Reward.  The application is intended to control curly-leaf pond weeds, considered nuisance, invasive aquatic plant species.  The herbicide will be applied as a surface application by power sprayer at a rate not to exceed 1 gallon per surface/acre.  A maximum of 10 gallons will be allowed.  The treatment is also being done in accordance with a current, valid Freshwater Wetlands permit, issued by the Department to the applicant, for water level control at the Horseshoe Lake dam during the herbicide application.  A Water Level Management Plan has been reviewed and approved.  The project site is Horseshoe Lake, south of Horseshoe Lake Rd., approximately 0.4 mi.east of the Rt. 19B intersection.

The applicant proposes a treatment to 10 acres of Godfrey's Pond with the aquatic herbicide Aquathol K.  The application is intended to control Curly-leaf pondweed, an invasive nuisance aquatic plant species.  The treatment will be subsurface, using a power sprayer at a concentration not to exceed 1.5 ppm.  The allowable amount of herbicide product is 20 gallons.  The project site is Godfrey's Pond, +/- 2,500 ft. south of Griswold Road, east of C.R. 19.

The applicant has applied for a yearly, one-time treatment of .95 acre/feet of the Brockport Yacht Club boat basin with the aquatic herbicide Aquathol K.  The treatment is intended to control Eurasian water milfoil, an invasive, non-native plant species, using a surface application by power sprayer at an concentration not to exceed 3.0 ppm.  The maximum amount of herbicide allowed is 7.7 gallons.  The project site is the Brockport Yacht Club on Sandy Creek, approximately 700 ft. south of the Lake Ontario shoreline.

The applicant proposes a yearly, one-time treatment of a 1.5 acre retention pond with the aquatic herbicide Aqua-Kleen, 2-4 D.   The treatment is intended to control Eurasian water milfoil, an invasive, non-native aquatic plant species, using a concentration of 100 lbs/acre.  The application will be by granular broadcast with a maximum amount of herbicide allowed of 150 lbs.  The project site is approximately 2,000 ft. west of the Penfield Rd. / Panorama Trail intersection, adjacent to Irondequoit Creek.   

The applicant proposes a renewal and modification of the McCarthy sand and gravel mine on the William McCarthy property.  The modification will add approximately 12.3 acres of new gravel reserves to the existing 9.7acre life-of-mine area.  Mining in the expansion area will continue current operations as a traditional surface extraction of the gravelly silt loams which are the principal soils types on the site.  Processing will be by portable crushing and screening equipment. No changes to the rate of mining, truck traffic volumes or hours of operation are proposed. Reclamation will restore the site to graded, re-vegetated open land.

The mine site is off McCarthy Road approximately 1.5 miles SE of the McCarthy Rd. / Addison/Erwin town line.

The applicant proposes a yearly, one-time treatment of a 1.1 acre area at the Casey Park Pond swimming area with the aquatic herbicide Reward.  The application is intended to control  Eurasian water milfoil, an invasive, non-native aquatic plant species.  The treatment will be a surface application using a power sprayer, and will not exceed a rate of one gallon per acre/foot.  A maximum of 1.1 gallons of herbicide will be allowed.  The project site is approximately 1,200 ft. east of Knickerbocker Road at the Kenyon Road intersection.
