Project Description:
The applicant proposes to install 33 wellpoints and dewater the ground to facilitate the construction of a basement for a proposed building with a footprint of 2800 square feet. The applicant proposes to reconstruct an existing bulkhead in place; increase the bulkhead elevation by 18"; reconstruct an existing walkway; increase the walkway elevation by 5"; reconstruct an existing 18 foot by 10 foot dock; and dredge a 30 foot by 150 foot area of Brushes Creek adjacent to the bulkhead.  Approximately 70 cubic yards of dredged material will be placed landward of the bulkhead and approximately 230 cubic yards of dredged material will be disposed of at an upland location.  Brushes Creek is considered a NYSDEC regulated tidal wetland and the proposed dredging is considered an incompatible use for a tidal wetland area.  The project is located at 1900 Peconic Bay Boulevard, Laurel, Town of Southold, Suffolk County.  SCTM # 1000-145-4-3.
