Wyoming County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Texas Brine Company, LLC Wyoming Brine Field Expansion will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the drilling of eighteen salt solution mining wells in the company’s Wyoming Brine Field, on two separate parcels of land of about 79.8 and 69 acres. Disturbances of 6.4 and 3.8 acres, respectively, would occur during development of the well sites. Upon closure of the wells, the sites would be returned to existing farm field (with an option for continued agriculture use) except where mitigation for disturbances to regulated state wetlands is required. The first site is bounded by Cowie Road on the south, Dillon Gulch, to the north, with some of the site abutting Dillon Road to the east. The second site is bounded on the east by Oatka Creek, and on the west by Saltvale Road, between its intersection with Cowie and La Grange Roads.
