THE DEPARTMENT HAS MADE A TENTIVE DECISION TO GRANT A REVISED PERMIT WHICH WILL COMBINE THE MAIN CAMPUS WASTEWATER DISCHARGES WITH THE HOSPITAL POWER GENERATION FACILITY DISCHARGES.   THE DISCHARGES CONSIST OF COOLING TOWER WASTEWATER, OIL STORAGE STORM WATER CONTAINMENT WASTEWATER, AND COOLING TOWER BLOWDOWN.   THE DISCHARGE WILL BE DIRECTED TO GROUNDWATER THROUGH RECHARGE FACILITIES. THE DRAFT PERMIT MAY BE REVIEWED AT THE REGIONAL DEC OFFICE. THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE SUNY AT STONY BROOK CAMPUS, NICHOLS ROAD, STONY BROOK, TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, SUFFOLK COUNTY.

The applicant proposes to treat a pond with the aquatic contact herbicide called Aquathol Super K to control the nuisance weed, Potamogeton pusillus.  The pond is owned by Martin Hauptman, One Tide Mill Road, Saint James, Village of Nissequogue, Town of Smithtown, Suffolk County.    

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a permit modification for a State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit under Article 17 of the Environmental Conservation law.

The facility, Suffolk Community College Eastern campust requests a modification to revise the plant capacity from 35,000 gpd to 12,000 gpd as well as the plant operation mode to SBR.  The facility is located at Old Moriches-Riverhead Road, Riverhead, Town of Southampton.

This tentative determination indicates that the discharge regulated under this statute is considered to satisfy regulator standards for permit issuance based on information available to the Department at this time.  As a tentative determination, The Department seeks comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.  As such, this tentative determination does not signify department approval for or endorsement of the activity for which a permit is sought or for the overall proposed project.  Refer to this application by application number listed above and SPDES number NY 0078131.  A copy of the application and draft permit are available at the Region I Stony Brook Office.

The applicant proposes to dredge an existing boat slip to 4' below apparent low water. The resultant dredge spoil is to be placed landward of an installed silt fence barrier; graded and planted with tidal wetland vegetation.  Excess dredge spoil will be removed to an approved upland location for disposal.  Remove the existing boat house and coal bin. Construct a new boat house pavilion.  The project is located at 50 Delafield Road, Quiogue, Town of Southampton, County of Suffolk on Quantuck Bay  

The applicant proposes to shorten an existing roadway by 50 feet; install a new drainage system including leaching pools, a drainage pipe, and a swale; remove an existing boat ramp; and plant the boat ramp area with Spartina Alterniflora. The project is located on East Creek, which is considered NYSDEC regulated tidal wetlands.  The project location is the end of Harbor Lane, Cutchogue, Town of Southold, Suffolk County.  Adjacent to SCTM # 1000-136-1-54.
