Notice Of Extension Of Public Comment Period On Draft EIS

Suffolk County - The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), as lead agency, announced in the March 30 Environmental Notice Bulletin that it had accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed Caithness Long Island Energy Center to be located in the Town of Brookhaven’s Empire Development Zone in Suffolk County, Long Island.

In order to ensure all interested members of the public have an opportunity to review the DEIS and submit written comments, LIPA has extended the public comment period on the DEIS to May 25, 2005. Therefore, all comments in writing must be sent to the following address by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2005:

Modified Notice Extended Comment Deadline

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) administers the Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) pursuant to State Environmental Conservation Law (ECL) 27-1400 et seq. The BCP was created to encourage the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated properties known as brownfields. The requestor indicated above has submitted a BCP application for investigation of the site indicated above.

NYSDEC will accept public comments concerning the application. A copy of the application and other appropriate documents (application package) is available in the site document repository located at the address indicated below.

NYSDEC will review the application package and public comments received and then make a determination on the eligibility of the application.

Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Town of Southampton Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Leland Lane LLC will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves improvements to a 2.7 acre parcel situated in the Highway Business zoning district for the construction of a 2,038 sf addition to the west side of the existing building, and a 7,170 sf addition to the east side of the existing building totaling 15,000 sq ft for restaurant use, and the addition of associated parking and septic. The project is located on the south side of CR 39 in the unincorporated hamlet of Tuckahoe in the Highway Business zoning district, in an archeological sensitivity area, Town of Southampton, County of Suffolk (SCTM Parcel 900-211-6-8).

Suffolk County - The Planning Board of the Town of Southampton, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Flying Point I & II will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a subdivision consisting of the merger of three lots, totaling 3,936 acres (171,974 sf) to create two lots of 2.041 acres (88,946 sf) and 1.895 acres (82,548 sf). The project is located on the east side of Flying Point Road south of the intersection with Montauk Highway (SCTM #0900-133-205, 7.2, and 6.3) situated in the R-60 Zoning District in the Agricultural Overlay District.

Notice Of Acceptance Of Final Generic EIS

Suffolk County - The Town of East Hampton Town Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Final Generic Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Town Comprehensive Plan and proposed local laws implementing the East Hampton Town Comprehensive Plan. The action involves the adoption of the East Hampton Town Comprehensive Plan of 2004 and proposed local laws amending Chapter 255 (Zoning) of the Town Code of the Town of East Hampton. The Comprehensive Plan includes an overview of existing conditions which provide the background needed to formulate the plan recommendations. A set of eleven (11) articulated goals are the basis for the recommendations in the Comprehensive Plan. The three (3) areas of intensive study included in the Comprehensive Plan are (1) affordable housing, (2) water resources, and (3) urban renewal areas. Each of these subsections of the Comprehensive Plan contains narratives describing existing conditions, analysis, and recommendations to achieve the Towns articulated goals. In addition to the recommendations in the three (3) areas of intensive study, the Comprehensive Plan contains recommendations for each hamlet in the Town, and an overall plan for the Town. The Comprehensive Plan includes a proposed Zoning or use district map reflecting the detailed study and analysis in the plan. The project is located in the entire Town of East Hampton, exclusive of the incorporated Villages of East Hampton and Sag Harbor.
