The proposal is for the
establishment of Town of Sheridan Water District No. 3. The City
of Dunkirk will supply surplus water, under an agreement, in amounts estimated to
average 33,500 gallons per day. Peak daily demand is estimated at 66,100 gallons per day.
The new water district would serve a total of 171 parcels along Harrington Road and the
Route 5 Corridor in the Town of Sheridan. The project involves the installation of 26,753
linear feet of 6 inch, 8 inch and 12 inch watermain as well as 31 fire hydrants and related
appurtenances. Application materials and documents in support of the request for a
permit can be reviewed at the regional office in Buffalo. Comments both for and against
the project should be submitted by the comment date listed in the notice.

The applicant proposes the
construction of a 10 foot-wide bike/pedestrian asphalt
pavement trail on the former Canandaigua to Niagara Falls rail bed. The trail will pass
through NYS regulated Freshwater Wetland CC-9, and will require installation of a 36
inch culvert extension and fill to achieve the desired trail width. Other trail amenities
will occur within the regulated adjacent area of Wetland CC-9 and include the installation
of an emergency phone station, trail signs, crossing gate and placement of road millings
on top of the existing stone pad at the Gott Creek Parking lot.

The
Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to
re-issue/re-new the following pre-existing EPA minor Private/Commercial/Institutional
State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (P/C/I SPDES) permit. DEC has made a
tentative determination to re-issue/re-new this pre-existing permit for a five year term
maintaining current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements. This
permit involves the surface discharge through a sand filter of up to 6,000 gallons per day
of treated sanitary waste to the east brance of 12-mile Creek.
Additional
information on this permit may be requested from or inspected at the
NYSDEC Central Office in Albany. Substantive comments must be submitted in writing
