The applicant has prepared and proposes to implement a County wide vegetative management program

plan to control vegetative growth in the highway right-of-ways for the purpose of public safety, to promote dense turf to resist erosion, to aid in proper drainage, and to protect pavement and road shoulders. Both mechanical and chemical means are proposed. Herbicide application is proposed for areas around guide rails, signs, bridges, culverts, utility poles, and similar structures where mechanical means are impractical.  Herbicides will be applied only by a New York State certified private contractor.  Herbicides will be applied at a minimum quantity in compliance with manufacturer's label instructions.  No herbicides are proposed to be applied within the Adirondack Park boundary.  Only herbicides approved for use in New York State will be used.  Application may be applied by spray bottle, backpack hand sprayer, truck mounted boom sprayer or Radiarc sprayer. No in-stream or in-wetland spraying will take place.  Herbicides listed for potential use are: Roundup, Glypro Plus, Arsenal Plus, Oust, Krovar, Velpar and Garlon+.
