ENB Region 1 Completed Applications 04/20/2005

The applicant proposes to construct 18 feet of new bulkhead to close off an existing boat slip.  Fifty cubic yards of fill will be placed within the boatslip, resulting in the loss of 323 square feet of tidal wetlands known as littoral zone.  The project is located in the Mandalay Waterway, which is a NYSDEC regulated tidal wetland.  The project is located at 2968 Islip Court, Wantagh, Town of Hempstead, Nassau County.  NCTM # 63-235-1382 through 1385.

The applicant proposes to demolish an existing single family dwelling, construct a new single family dwelling, reconstruct an existing concrete retaining wall, reconstruct a 28' section of bulkhead in place, construct a 65' section of low sill bulkhead to replace a non-functioning bulkhead section, dredge a 93' by 10' area adjacent to the bulkhead to depth of -3.5' below apparent low water, and place the dredged material landward of the bulkhead.  In addition, the applicant proposes to reconstruct a 28' section of an existing walkway landward of the bulkhead and construct a 65' section of new catwalk landward of and elevated over the 65' section of low sill bulkhead.  The parcel is located on the Carman River, which is considered a NYSDEC regulated tidal wetland.   The project is located at 102 East Shore Drive, Massapequa, Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County.  NCTM # 66-97-47 through 52.

Conduct seasonal beach grooming and cleaning activities on unvegetated portions of recreational beaches containing, or which may contain, nests or nesting habitat of endangered species of birds.  These birds and their nests will be protected by permit conditions and environmental monitoring requirements during the period from April 1 through August 31.  No authorized activities may be undertaken during the period from April 1 through June 30th unless an environmental monitor is present at the work site. From July 1 through August 31, a monitor must evaluate the proposed work location for bird activity the morning of the commencement of work and determine that there are no endangered species within 150 feet of the project location.  If endangered species are present, no work may commence without the approval of the NYSDEC's Wildlife Office. The proposed project sites are located at municipal beaches and private beach clubs located on the south shore of Long Beach Barrier Island in the Town of Hempstead, City of Long Beach, and the Village of Atlantic Beach in the Nassau County.  A draft general permit is available for inspection at the Regional office.

The applicant proposes to remove existing structures and construct a single family dwelling, porch/deck, sanitary system, garage, driveway, drywells, place fill, and conduct clearing, grading and ground disturbance.  A small portion of the dwelling, deck/porch, drywells, fill, and clearing will occur within the 100 foot adjacent area of regulated wetland B-2.  The property is located at 8 North Side Road, Yaphank, Brookhaven Town, SCTM #200-548-1-8.

The applicant proposes to demolish an existing single family dwelling, construct a new single family dwelling and install a new septic system.  NYSDEC regulated freshwater wetland # GP-46 is located in the vicinity of the parcel.  Clearing is proposed within 56' of the freshwater wetland boundary, the single family dwelling is proposed within 77' of the freshwater wetland boundary, and the septic system is proposed within 77' of the freshwater wetland boundary.  The project is located at 47A South Ferry Road, Shelter Island, Suffolk County.  SCTM # 700-20-1-3.

The applicant proposes to dredge a 30' x 200' area in Speonk Shore Canal to a maximum depth of 2 ft. below mean low water to allow access to a Town owned facility.  Resultant 100 cubic yards of dredged material will be deposited landward of an existing bulkhead located on Town property at 9 Bayview Road, Remsenburg.  The dredge proposal is located at Speonk Shore Canal, adjacent to properties 20 and 22 Stokes Lane and 9 New Street, Remsenburg, Town of Southampton, County of Suffolk.
