The applicant, Thomas Thachuk,
proposes to operate a sand and gravel mine on a 100
acre parcel under his ownership. The life of mine boundary will be 31.4 acres, with 4.8
acres of affected land proposed for the first fiveyear permit term. The facility, which will
include the onsite processing of mining products, will be located 6,000 feet north of the
intersection of Murphy Road and West Ava Road and 500 feet east of Murphy Road in
the Town of Ava, Oneida County.

The applicant proposes to
enlarge the existing marina basin from it's current maximum
width of 67 feet to an 80 foot wide by 110 foot deep basin. The new basin will have
verticle cement walls around it's entire perimeter. The new facility will have a maximum
water depth of 3 feet. The channel into the basin will be widened to 18 feet at the toe of
slope and will be armoured with rip-rap on banks cut to a stable slope. At the mouth of
the entrance, the western channel armouring will continue 8 feet lakeward to form a short
jetty to protect the entrance and aid navigation. Sixty two feet of lake shore west of the
jetty will also be armoured with heavey rip-rap. There will be no lakeward filling.
