Livingston County - The Town of Leicester Planing Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Akzo Brine Management Site Plan will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves site plan approval of one multi-use facility (the “Facility”), to be constructed by the applicant on land currently owned by the Town of Leicester (the “Town”) and A.R. Christians Farms, Inc. and leased/to be acquired by the applicant. The Facility may be used for any purpose permitted in an industrial district, including but not limited to the potential housing of brine extraction and processing equipment. The purpose of this proposed amendment is to allow for the control of the elevation and flow of brine in the collapse zone above the Retsof Salt Mine, Cuylerville, NY, following a roof fall on March 12, 1994. If the Facility is not used for brine extraction, it will provide additional space for other uses allowed in an industrial district. The project is located on Route 20A, Leicester, NY.
