ENB Region 3 Completed Applications 02/23/2005

    Applicant proposes to operate an 18.1 acre shale mine within a 159.9 acre parcel located east of Plains Road and north of Kings Hill Road.  A four acre portion of this proposed site has been mined previously under a permit issued by NYSDEC.  It is estimated that approximately 820,000 cubic yards of material will be removed. Processing ( crushing and screening ) of material is proposed using portable equipment. Blasting will be required approximately twice a month.  Hours of operation will be 8 am to 4.30 pm Monday - Friday and 8 am to 3.30 pm on Saturdays.    

Patterson Materials Corporation has requested  modification of its existing Mined Land Reclamation permit for its Patterson Quarry to increase the depth of the quarry floor from its current elevation at or about 285 + feet above mean sea level (AMSL) to a final floor elevation of 150 + feet AMSL.  No lateral expansion of excavation is proposed.  In addition, the Corporation has modified its mining plan to include existing areas affected previously by mine-related activities, including stockpile areas and haul roads, consistent with NYSDEC requirements. These areas total approximately 17.8 acres and will be subject to reclamation. The reclamation plan for the quarry excavation area remains unchanged, ie. a 32.6 acre lake with a surface elevation estimated at 434-439 feet AMSL. The quarry is located on the north side of NYS Route 311, approximately 3,600 feet west of its intersection with NYS Route 22.
