The Department has prepared
a draft permit and has made a tentative determination to
approve this application. The existing Title V facility currently operates four boilers and
an ethylene oxide sterilizer system. The four boilers were de-rated 45% each in an Air
State Facility permit issued on 10/24/03. The facility plans to shut down the four de-rated
boilers and install six small new boilers (four of which are exempt). The project is not
applicable to New Source Review per 6 NYCRR 231-2. The application, draft permit,
relevant supporting materials and regulations are available for review during normal
business hours at the DEC office provided in this notice. Comments of support or
objection may be made by filing a written statement by the deadline date indicated. DEC
may schedule a public hearing based upon an evaluation of the nature and scope of any
written objections raised. Hearing notices will contain instructions on filing for party
status and submitting comments.

The
Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has received an application to
re-issue/re-new the following pre-existing EPA minor Private/Commercial/Institutional
State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (P/C/I SPDES) permit. DEC has made a
tentative determination to re-issue/re-new this permit for a five year term maintaining
current effluent limitations and monitoring and reporting requirements. This permit
involves the surface discharge of up to 21,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste to
the Raritan Bay.
Additional
information on this permit may be requested from or inspected at the
NYSDEC Central Office in Albany. Substantive comments must be submitted in writing
to the contact person.
