Orleans County - The Planning Board of the Town of Murray, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed construction of a Recreational Vehicle Park will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a Recreation Vehicle (RV) Park on a 46 acre parcel of property on the north side of Canal Road in the Town of Murray. The property is located in the Residential/Agricultural Zoning District adjacent to the NYS Barge Canal. There are several abandoned sandstone quarries on the property, and under the previous owners, the property had been operated as Gene's Recreation Park for approximately 40 years for swimming and recreational purposes. The RV Park would be a seasonal operation with 150 individual sites, each served by public water, sewer hookup, telephone, cable television and wireless internet access. Individual sites would be clustered to allow preservation of as much natural vegetation as possible. The facility would be managed by a resident manager and would feature a clubhouse, pavilions, public restrooms with showers, and a variety of recreational opportunities including a playground, basketball court, tennis, swimming and miniature golf. Construction would commence in 2005, with completion and occupancy in 2006. The project is located on the north side of Canal Road between Hulberton Road and Fancher Road.
