Notice of Public Scoping Meeting

This notice is issued pursuant to Part 617 of the implementing regulations pertaining to Article 8 (State Environmental Quality Review Act) of the Environmental Conservation Law.

The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed action described below may have a significant impact on the environment and that a Draft Environmental Impact Statement will be prepared. As part of the process, a Draft Scoping Document has been prepared by the applicant and DEC and is available by request from the Town of Colesville Town Clerk or from the contact person. The Public Scoping Meeting will be held at the Town of Colesville Town Hall, 780 Welton Street, Harpursville, NY at 7:30 p.m. on February 3, 2005. The meeting room is handicap accessible. Comments on the Draft Scoping Document may also be submitted in writing until February 15, 2005 by mailing to the contact person.

Name of Action: Hastings Pit Mine Expansion Alfred Gorick Co., Inc.

Description of Action: Applicant proposes to expand an existing 21.9 acre mine in the Town of Afton, Chenango County by approximately 5 acres and into an adjacent parcel in the Town of Colesville, Broome County by approximately 40 acres. Total proposed mine area would be 67.5 acres of 159 acres owned by the applicant. Processing is proposed on-site.

Location of Project: Project site is located on the east side of County Road 26 at the Afton/Colesville town and Broome/Chenango County lines.

Conditioned Negative Declaration

Onondaga County - The Skaneateles Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Lake Lawn Subdivision will not have a significant adverse environmental impact provided specific conditions are met. There will be a 30 day public comment period commencing with the date of this notice. The action involves a proposed private community development which consists of a subdivision of a 26.77 acre residential property into 11 residential homes under the Town of Skaneateles Zoning Code for Performance Subdivision. There are 4 existing structures on site: 3 residential buildings and a boathouse. One residential building will be dedicated as a Maintenance Building for the private community. Another will be remodeled and added to as a single family home. The boathouse will be added to as a private residence. The project is located at 3384 West Lake Road, Skaneateles, NY.
